2 year Treatment Plan

Pure brilliance!

Snapshot for quick reference

Finally we met Dr. Randhawa which he explained how the next 2 years will look for us and the commitment we are about to make towards Jett's food freedom. The basic premise of the program is that each food has related food proteins. By attacking and building tolerance for these individual proteins, it will lead to being able to eat each of Jett's biggest allergens (refer to Snapshot chart for related proteins in each food category).

The daily dosing of food will lead to not having to read labels by visit 20 (ultimate relief), and eating peanuts by visit 23 (and all foods to fall into the tolerant column). Other big milestones in between include being able to eat egg by visit 7, and milk by visit 13. We never thought any of this would even be a possibility!

Jett will need to take 1.25mg of Zyrtec every single day, and eat ALL the recommended foods each week throughout the entire treatment, that is: 3 apples, 3 pears, 3 stone fruits, 1.5oz beef, 1.5oz chicken, 3oz oats, and 3/4tsp of pea protein EACH WEEK for the next 2 years. This is in addition to his maintenance food: 1 macadamia nut/day in the morning (7 nuts each week). The list of maintenance foods and treatment foods will increase with each visit.

On our next visit in exactly 4 weeks, Jett will go through a sesame challenge and begin his treatment foods again at home, leading up to an almond challenge in 5-7 weeks... this continues through the pathway above, until the very last visit.

The next 2 years will be extremely difficult, with the added stress and anxiety of making an already picky toddler eat, even if it makes him uncomfortable... but we know it will all be worth it in the end. Travel and food will be even more limiting, but we will try to keep our lives as "normal" as possible; with even more additional pre-planning for food. :)
